This recipe is my version of General Tso's chicken. The white wine is optional, but does give a great element to the dish.   5. Prepare 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  6. Get 2 cloves garlic, minced
  7. Prepare 1/2 inch ginger, finely minced
  8. Get 10 dried chilies, soak in lukewarm water for 30 minutes to 1 hour (the amount of dried chilies can be reduced or added to taste)
  9. Take 2 green onions, julienned

  11. Prepare 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  12. Take 1 Tbsp dark soy sauce
  13. Get 2 Tbsp rice vinegar
  14. Get 1 tsp Hoisin sauce
  15. Take 1/2 Tbsp Chinese cooking wine
  16. Get 2 Tbsp water
  17. Make ready 1 Tbsp cornstarch

Mix thoroughly, until all the chicken pieces are. Okay, so in my humble opinion, when ordering General Tso Chicken, Sesame Chicken or Orange Chicken from a Chinese restaurant, the base sauce reicpe is the same. Steps to make General Tso’s Chicken:
  1. Mix chicken with salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  3. Coat chicken with the cornstarch. Shake the excess flour off.
  4. Deep fry the chicken until golden brown. Remove from the heat. Drain the excess oil by laying the chicken on a dish lined with paper towels.
  5. Heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Sauté garlic, ginger, and dry chilies until fragrant.
  6. Add the sauce mixture. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the chicken. Stir until the chicken coated evenly with the sauce.
  8. Add green onions. Mix well.
  9. Serve with warm rice! 😋
