  5. Make ready 4 cup water
  6. Get 6 oz beer
  7. Get 1/2 head cabbage, coarsely chopped

Now it's a regular in my menu planning. Unwrap the brisket and place it fat side up inside a baking dish. If it came with a spice packet, sprinkle it over the top, then sprinkle on the black pepper and rub it in. Add the cabbage on top of the potatoes and add onion and carrot on top of the cabbage.

Instructions to make Corned Beef and Cabbage:
  1. Place the carrots, potatoes, and onion into the bottom of a slow cooker, pour in the water, and place the brisket on top of the vegetables. Pour the beer over the brisket. Sprinkle on the spices from the packet, cover, and set the cooker on High.
  2. Cook the brisket for about 8 hours. An hour before serving, stir in the cabbage and cook for 1 more hour.

If it came with a spice packet, sprinkle it over the top, then sprinkle on the black pepper and rub it in. Add the cabbage on top of the potatoes and add onion and carrot on top of the cabbage. Check the cabbage to see if it is tender. You shouldn't undercook it and it's hard to overcook it. Cover the beef with an inch water.
